Artist Statement
Making art is a process of slowing down and seeing – absorbing and translating – filtering and creating something out of nothing. As a painter, I try to provide a visual forum for people to re-member their cellular memories of living within the natural world. When another person views them, absorbs something of them, the art had completed its purpose of moving emotion from one person to another. The tree trunk form I’ve been working with for several years now mirrors my own body shape. Their branches stretch out to others. Sometimes connecting. Sometimes not. Some are marked trees, some frame other landscapes.
